I have had some amazing progress with my character and drawing in general.
It was high time I took apart the old drawing I did of Rayverak and vectorized it, so I could easily replicate it. By doing this, I managed to turn this:
into this:
I really loved how the nose turned out. I had a little error in the formula so the snout turned out a little longer than in the original, but I might just keep it this way. Doing the scales was a lot easier than I had feared, and even though I need some more variety for the next design I am pretty happy with them.
Anyway.. by adding some coloring, applying some filters to the scales and doing some fancy highlight rendering in my 3d program I managed to turn it into this:
